Edward Vincent Sullivan is an American television personality, executive director, sports and entertainment reporter, and columnist for the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune New York News Syndicate. Essentially, he is remembered as the creator and host of the later famous - and ultimately, officially renamed - The Ed Sullivan Show TV variety show The Toast of the Town. Aired for 23 years from 1948 to 1971, it set the record for the longest-running variety show in broadcasting history in the United States.
